Session Overview

Information coming soon!

This workshop focuses on the urgent need to phase out fossil fuels and protect Africa's vital ecosystems, uniting voices from key campaigns across the continent.

From Uganda, where the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) threatens communities and biodiversity, to Namibia's fight to save the Okavango Delta from oil exploration, and the Congo Rainforest, Africa’s green lung, under siege by deforestation and fossil fuel activities, speakers will share firsthand accounts of these struggles. Short campaign videos will bring these stories to life, showcasing the breathtaking beauty of these landscapes and the devastating impacts of fossil fuel projects. Participants will engage in discussions on the critical connections between these campaigns and the global climate agenda, emphasizing why African voices must be central to COP29. This event aims to inspire urgent collective action, demanding an end to fossil fuel projects, a just transition to renewable energy, and global recognition of Africa's pivotal role in the fight against climate change.
