Most decorated triathlete in Indian history Pragnya Mohan and Kiwi international footballer Katie Rood share insights on:
- climate impacts on sport
- why sport has a role to play in climate action
- the need to drop fossil fuel sponsorship
In addition, Pragnya is keen to discuss a project she’s launched called “Ek Beti Ek Cycle” meaning one daughter, one cycle. With the support of the International Olympics Committee, this initiative aims to provide rural high school girls with bicycles to cycle to school. These bicycles are recycled, donated by city school students who no longer use them.
Not only does this initiative help keep these girls in school, preventing dropouts, but it also enhances their stamina, builds confidence, and offers a sustainable, eco-friendly alternative to traditional transportation. This project is an example of how we can fight the climate crisis while uplifting vulnerable communities.
