DanceAbility Azerbaijan’s performance, “How Much is Enough?”, followed by a panel discussion, explores “Fast Fashion, Global Warming, and Accessibility: A Journey of Self-Discovery and Inclusion.”
We examine how fast fashion impacts global warming and highlight the importance of accessibility for people with disabilities. The story centers on Gandaf, a disabled dance artist whose journey reflects changing accessibility realities in Azerbaijan, from the Soviet era to today. Through Gandaf’s transformation—from seeking joy in possessions to valuing connection, friendship, and harmony with nature—the performance underscores the role of mindful consumption. Our performers, committed to mindful shopping, hope to inspire audiences to reconsider their consumption habits and the effects of overproduction. The fast fashion industry also severely impacts oceans, polluting them with microplastics and toxic chemicals, disrupting marine life and ecosystems essential to our planet’s health. As we prepare for COP29, we use performance as advocacy, demonstrating that inclusion and climate action are interlinked, with everyone playing a role. The following panel will expand on these themes, encouraging discussion on inclusive and sustainable practices and the power of shifting perspectives for a more accessible and eco-conscious future.
